The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the Calendar Year (CY) 2024 Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) on November 16, 2023 to finalize updates to Medicare payment policies under the PFS and other Medicare Part B issues. The Final Rule addresses topics ranging from a notable conversion factor reduction that is larger than contemplated in the Proposed Rule, to adding an evaluation and management (E/M) visit add-on code, split/shared visit guidance, Medicare Shared Savings Program updates, telehealth service provisions, as well as initiatives meant to expand coverage and payment for certain services with an eye towards health equity. With the Final Rule effective since January 1, 2024, CMS has provided a broad range of changes to understand and to ensure that your organization has addressed effectively. The analysis below provides insight into many of the key changes slated to move forward and offers suggestions on ensuring proper implementation and monitoring of the changes.
