Updated Public Interest Resource on Lessons Learned from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
Lessons Learned from the Gulf Coast Hurricanes draws on the experiences of healthcare providers and community leaders who were directly involved in the immediate rebuilding efforts of the Gulf Coast hurricanes of 2005. Now with updated footnotes, this guidebook addresses several important issues, including the temporary licensing and credentialing of healthcare providers, patient evacuation, emergency access to prescription medications, consent to treatment during emergency situations, critical computer systems, and issues unique to academic medical centers.
Lessons Learned is useful for hospital administrators, emergency responders, public health officials, homeland security and emergency management personnel, and members of the general public who are interested in how to prepare for a major public emergency.
