The annual Academic Medical Centers program, co-sponsored with National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), is designed to address the legal issues unique to teaching hospitals and academic medical centers. This program attracts in-house and outside counsel who advise the nation's leading teaching hospitals and it provides an excellent environment for the sharing of best practices and the exploration of new issues. This year, in-depth sessions will cover privacy and security, GDPR, fraud and abuse, research, emerging issues such as biologics, marijuana research, innovation, and much more.

The program will begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, January 24 and end at 2:45 pm on Friday, January 25.

Program Materials

All materials will be available on a website prior to and after the program.

All registrants will receive an email a week prior to the program with a link to the materials. This website is for attendees only and is not posted to the public. You must have the direct link to the website. The email will come from AHLA Member Services. To ensure registrants receive this email and is not caught by a spam filter, please white list msc@healthlawyers.org.

Cancellation / Substitutions

Cancellations must be received in writing and sent to Dorothy Johnson: djohnson@healthlawyers.org. Registration fee, minus the $125 administrative fee, will be refunded approximately 3-4 weeks following the program in the same form of tender as the original payment. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after the cancellation date, to include no-shows.

Substitutions will be accepted, in writing to AHLA (djohnson@healthlawyers.org), up to 2 business days prior to the event date on a one time basis. Note, that the registration fee is based on AHLA membership status of the individual who actually attends the program. Non-member substitutes will be charged the fee difference if they are substituting for a member-discounted registration. An administrative fee of $125 will be charged for a substitution request.

Transfer to an upcoming event within one year of equal or higher value is available on a one time basis only, and should be received in writing to AHLA (djohnson@healthlawyers.org. ) no later than 2 business days prior to the event. Continuing Education

CLE/MCLE: AHLA will be applying for 11.75 credits (including 1.0 ethics credits) for 60-minute states and approximately 14.1 (including 1.2 ethics credits) credits for 50-minute states. The number of credits approved may vary state to state.

CPE: This seminar will be worth approximately 14.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37219-2417. NASBA's web site is located at http://www.nasba.org/.

CCB: This education activity has been submitted to the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)® and is currently pending their review for approval of CCB CEUs. We will be applying for 14.1 CCB credits

This program is designed to be an update on developments in the area of academic medical centers issues. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparations required to register for this group live program. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with this area in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program.
