The Institute is designed specifically for in-house counsel at health plans and their outside counsel and advisors. This program will provide an intensive day and a half of informative and practical education on a variety of these issues and best practices for health plan counsel. In addition, it will provide valuable networking opportunities for in-house counsel, outside counsel, and other professionals supporting health plans.

Plenary and breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Fraud, Waste and Abuse Program Integrity Initiatives in the Trump Administration
  • Plan-Provider Disputes
  • Pharmacy Benefits and Trends
  • ACA Section 1557
  • Value-Based Payment Arrangements
  • Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment

The program will begin at 1:15 pm on Monday, November 13 and end at 4:15 on Tuesday, November 14.

Program Materials

All materials will be available on a website prior to and after the program and handed out on a flash drive at the program.

All registrants will receive an email a week prior to the program with a link to the materials. This website is for attendees only and is not posted to the public. Cancellation / Substitutions

Cancellations must be received in writing by November 8, 2017. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after the cancellation date. Registration fee, minus the $125 administrative fee, will be refunded approximately 3-4 weeks following the program. If you wish to send a substitute, need more information regarding refund, complaint and program cancellation policies please call (202) 833-1100 prompt #5. Note that the registration fee is based on the AHLA membership status of the individual who actually attends the program.

Continuing Education

CLE/MCLE: AHLA will be applying for 9.75 credits (including 1.0 ethics credits) for 60-minute states and approximately 11.7 (including 1.2 ethics credits) credits for 50-minute states. The number of credits approved may vary state to state.

CPE: This seminar will be worth approximately 11.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. CCB: This education activity has been submitted to the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)® and is currently pending their review for approval of CCB CEUs. We will be applying for 11.7 CCB credits

This program is designed to be an update on developments in the area of managed care. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparations required to register for this group live program. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with this area in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program. Introductory remarks, breaks, luncheons, and receptions are not included in the computation of credit hours. Participants will be given continuing education request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
