For the most comprehensive program available on legal issues related to reimbursement, attend AHLA's Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues. The program is a practical, informative program that brings together knowledgeable public and private sector speakers with CMS and other agency representatives.

Every year, this program covers regulations and enforcement initiatives related to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Our knowledgeable faculty discuss, in-depth, the impact of emerging regulatory trends, recent case law, and legislative developments on health plans and various types of health care providers, and the challenges they face. Some of the over 50 breakout sessions include:

  • The Changing Face of the Medicaid Program: A Review of Recent Trends in State Medicaid Waivers
  • Report, Return, (Try Not to) Repeat: Overpayments and Self-Disclosures
  • Obamacare Repeal to Entitlement Reform: A Look Back at Medicare and Medicaid Legislative Activity in 2017 and Ahead in 2018
  • Enforcing State Medicaid Entitlement (Section 1902)
  • Latest Policy and Regulatory Changes to the Medicare Appeals Process, and many more

The program will begin at 8:00 am on Wednesday, March 21 and end at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 23.

Program Materials

All materials will be available on a website prior to and after the program and handed out on a flash drive at the program.

All registrants will receive an email a week prior to the program with a link to the materials. This website is for attendees only and is not posted to the public. Cancellation / Substitutions

Cancellations must be received in writing by Friday, March 9, 2018. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after the cancellation date. Registration fee, minus the $125 administrative fee, will be refunded approximately 3-4 weeks following the program. If you wish to send a substitute, need more information regarding refund, complaint and program cancellation policies please call (202) 833-1100 prompt #5. Note that the registration fee is based on the AHLA membership status of the individual who actually attends the program.

Continuing Education

CLE/MCLE: AHLA will be applying for 19.17 credits (including 2.0 ethics credits) for 60-minute states and approximately 23.0 (including 2.4 ethics credits) credits for 50-minute states. The number of credits approved may vary state to state.

CPE: This seminar will be worth approximately 23.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37219-2417. NASBA's web site is located at http://www.nasba.org/.

CCB: This education activity has been submitted to the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)® and is currently pending their review for approval for 23.0 CCB CEUs.

This program is designed to be an update on developments in the area of reimbursement issues. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparations required to register for this group live program. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with this area in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program.
