Transforming Peer Review through Mediation

Monday, March 30, 2015
3:00 PM-4:30 PM Eastern

The roundtable discussion is brought to you by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Affinity Group of the Health Care Liability and Litigation (HCLL) and Post-Acute and Long Term Services (PALS) Practice Groups, and is co-sponsored by the Hospitals and Health Systems (HHS) and Medical Staff, Credentialing, and Peer Review (MSCPR) Practice Groups.

Our program will focus on how mediation is taking root to help transform resolution of peer review disputes in health care entities, including how to structure and implement mediation programs to avoid and/or streamline otherwise-required costly and time-consuming fair hearings.

The faculty will use real-world peer review cases to examine the numerous benefits which are achievable only through peer review mediation, what steps must be taken to protect the confidentiality of this new peer review activity, and expressly address issues and best practices that are unique to mediation in the context of peer review.

This program is designed for transactional and litigation counsel of hospitals, health plans, large physician groups, and accountable care providers, and physicians who practice in any of these settings, who advise their clients on peer review matters and/or represent them at fair hearings.
