Surgical Interns Worried About Training Duty-Hour Restrictions
Medical Xpress (6/18) reports that based on a recent survey of surgical interns, "new duty-hour restrictions will decrease continuity with patients, coordination of care and time spent operating, as well as reduce their acquisition of medical knowledge, development of surgical skills and overall educational experience."
Slavin Tapped to Head Mass. Hospital Association
The Boston Globe (6/21) reports that "Dr. Peter Slavin has been named chairman of the board of directors of the Massachusetts Hospital Association, after serving four years on the group's executive committee." Slavin has led Massachusetts General Hospital since 2003.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital Launches "Heart Valve Clinic Microsite"
PRWeb (6/20) reports that a new "Microsite" launched by Northwestern's teaching hospital will give "users a simple interface with robust multimedia capabilities to help patients and caregivers learn about Northwestern's unique cardiac competencies, its surgeons, its superior surgical outcomes, patient success stories and more."
Report: Columbia Hospital Expanding
The Business Review (6/20) reports that "Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York, will use a state grant of $2.4 million to expand its services in neighboring Greene County."
