On January 16, 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a draft 2009 call letter for Medicare Advantage and Part D plan sponsors. CMS is seeking comments on the draft call letter. The comment period for the draft call letter ends on January 30, 2008, and CMS expects to issue the final call letter on March 15, 2008.
The call letter sets out requirements for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Advantage-Prescription Drug, Cost-Based, and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) plans, including employer/union-only group waiver plans. In addition, the letter provides Medicare Advantage and Part D plan sponsors "new information and operational reminders" for the 2009 contracting process and contract year.
The call letter and associated documents, including the comment form, are available on the CMS website.
