Robert Jerry Strader, Sr., DDS, MSD, FACD, is the Mediator in Residence at the Center for Conflict Resolution, Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas. Dr. Strader graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1955 with a degree in Business Administration; from University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston, Texas in 1959; from University of Texas Dental Branch with a Master's Degree in Dentistry in 1966; and a Master's Degree in Dispute Resolution from Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University School of Law in 2003. Dr. Strader is a Credentialed Mediator by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association and has mediated multiple complex hospital disputes. Dr. Strader served as Senior Vice President of Medical Staff Affairs at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas for 9 years. He has also served as President of the Medical Staff at West Texas Medical Center, Abilene, Texas. Dr. Strader served his country in the U.S. Army for over 40 years with his last assignment as Deputy Assistant Surgeon General for Dental Services, Office of the Surgeon General. He was the only general officer in the Army Dental Corps Reserve when he retired on March 31, 1991. Dr. Strader has been active in the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life and received the Distinguished Eagle Award in December 1994 and the Silver Beaver Award in April 2000. He and his wife, Patsy, have four children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
