The Task Force serves as a single key point-of-contact for the Association membership for institutional resources regarding comprehensive healthcare reform initiatives at the state and federal levels. Such healthcare reform initiatives have the goal of significantly increasing the number of people with health coverage; similarly these initiatives potentially impact various stakeholders in the healthcare industry including health plans, insurers and other payors and physicians, hospitals, and other providers.
The Task Force works to educate AHLA members on proposed healthcare reform initiatives as well as report on ongoing experiences with recently enacted reform initiatives (e.g., Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and San Francisco). It is important to note that the Task Force does not advocate for any specific healthcare reform initiatives and makes every effort not to offer presentations that imply support for one particular approach over another; rather, the Task Force is simply an information and educational resource regarding such initiatives for the AHLA membership.
