Have You Checked Your Mailbox Lately?

During the week of June 29, 2009, all AHLA members received a complimentary copy of Loving Conversations. Distribution of this DVD was made possible by the generous support of Embark Healthcare, Inc., a new company dedicated to improving the end-of-life process for all individuals. Embark’s core program is an advance directives clearinghouse that offers simple and effective solutions that maximize the effectiveness of end-of-life healthcare choices.

More About Embark Healthcare, Inc.

Embark Healthcare, Inc. is a privately funded Delaware corporation dedicated to improving the end-of-life process for patients, families, loved ones, and caregivers.

Embark’s Advance Directives Clearinghouse (ADC) is an online service with 24/7 telephone support to help people develop the appropriate legal documents that communicate their healthcare choices if they are unable to speak for themselves. Embark’s ADC then stores the documents and contacts its members if the laws change or if the member’s directive needs updating; educates the member’s healthcare agent(s), her physician, and others which the member determines should have this information; and works with healthcare providers to get one’s directive into her patient chart when necessary. Membership in the ADC includes access to Embark’s National Legal Support Network (NLSN).

Embark’s National Legal Support Network has licensed attorneys covering all states to provide its members and their agents with advice or support in resolving any advance directive-related issue that may include enforcement or interpretation of the documents. The NLSN attorney represents only the Embark member, and communications between the attorney and member are privileged and confidential attorney-client communications. ADC membership includes one (1) free initial hour of an NLSN attorney’s time. After the use of that one hour, the Embark member or designated healthcare agent may continue to utilize the services of the NLSN attorney at their own cost.
