The Service provides hearing officers to administer peer review hearings. Through our hearing officer selection process, the requesting party receives names of individuals who have expertise in the administration of peer review hearings and in the subject matters that may be addressed in such hearings.
How it Works
To initiate the hearing officer selection process, the requesting party or parties fills out the Request for a Dispute Resolution List and submits it to the Service, along with the appropriate nonrefundable administration fee and documentation. The requestor(s) will be sent a list of ten (10) hearing officers, along with an extensive background and experience description, references, and fee rate schedule for each. The ten will be chosen by the Service on the basis of their experience in the area of the dispute, geographical location, and other criteria as indicated on the request form. The requestor(s) will review the qualifications of the ten suggested hearing officers and rank them in order of preference from 1 to 9. (If more than one party is requesting the list, either party has the right to strike one of the names from the list which will make that person ineligible for selection.) The person with the lowest number will be appointed to the case.
Fees
The requesting party is responsible for the ADR Service administration fee (submitted at the same time as the Request for a Dispute Resolver List form) and the costs incurred by the hearing officer (professional fees for meeting and research time, travel time, and expenses, etc.). The ADR Service charges a one-time nonrefundable fee of $900 for the administration required to produce a hearing officer list.
