Health Lawyers Names Inaugural Class of
Fellows
For Immediate Release
March 1, 2005
(WASHINGTON, DC) The American Health Lawyers Association (Health
Lawyers) honored forty of its past volunteer leaders by naming them to
its inaugural class of Fellows, a new designation that recognizes the
expertise and many contributions of life-long leaders in the
9,500-member professional association. The Fellows program was unveiled
in May 2004, the 2005 class was announced today. Peter M. Leibold,
Executive Vice President/CEO for the American Health Lawyers Association
congratulated the inaugural class. "I am proud that Health Lawyers has
created a Fellows Program to recognize the significant contributions
made by our lifelong leaders. They have enriched our Association and the
practice of health law," Leibold said.
Health Lawyers' members are eligible to be named as Fellow if they
have been a member of the Association for at least fifteen years;
maintained an active practice, whether in a public-service, teaching or
private practice setting; and have been actively involved in the
activities of the Association. The Association's Board of Directors
approves the yearly slate of nominees.
The 2005 class of Fellows includes twenty former presidents of the
Association (or its predecessors), authors, and past leaders of Health
Lawyers' practice groups, and educational programs. "We are extremely
pleased that the inaugural class of Fellows will play a significant role
in advancing the Association's mission for years to come," said Richard
G. Cowart, Health Lawyers President and a partner at Baker Donelson
Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz PC in Nashville, TN. James Touse, Chair
of the Fellows Task Force, added "The inaugural class reflects the
Association's commitment to diversity and excellence; it is an extremely
prestigious group of leaders and we look forward to their many
contributions as Health Lawyers Fellows."
