HIT's ACO Developments

Thursday, June 23, 2011
This webinar is brought to you by the Health Information and Technology Practice Group and the Accountable Care Organization Task Force

Description

In April, AHLA’s Accountable Care Organization Task Force presented a comprehensive overview of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) proposed regulations for the Shared Savings Program, in the form of a three-part webinar series. Now, the HIT Practice Group hones in on how health information will be shared, collected, evaluated, and reported by ACOs—those that seek to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, other CMS ACO initiatives, and ACO initiatives in the commercial market.

We will address issues such as:

  • What claims and utilization data the ACO may request from CMS, restrictions that will be imposed on the ACO’s use of this data, and practical/operational challenges presented by these restrictions;
  • How beneficiaries may opt out of data sharing;
  • How the ACO proposed rule aligns with the HITECH Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program;
  • What quality performance standards will be measured; and
  • How an ACO can effectively use EHRs and health information exchange to evaluate healthcare processes and measure improvements in outcomes.
