Co-Management Arrangements: Legal, Structural, and FMV Implications

Wednesday, September 30, 2009
1:00-2:30 pm Eastern (12:00-1:30 pm Central; 11:00 am-12:30 pm Mountain; 10:00-11:30 am Pacific; 9:00-10:30 am Alaska; 7:00-8:30 am Hawaii)
Co-sponsored by HealthCare Appraisers and the Fraud and Abuse (Fraud); Hospitals and Health Systems (HHS); In-House Counsel (In-House); Physician Organizations (Physicians); and Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment (RAP) Practice Groups

Description

This webinar presentation will address the ongoing trend of hospitals and health systems toward engaging physicians utilizing incentive-based compensation models, with a specific emphasis on one of the most common forms of these partnerships that has emerged in the past few years: the service-line co-management arrangement. The webinar will address both the unique structural and regulatory concerns that must be considered in establishing these arrangements, including a discussion on the current legal status (i.e., the proposed Stark Rule on incentive payment and shared-cost programs). In addition, the presentation will incorporate a review of the specific FMV aspects that must be considered given the uniqueness of each arrangement from hospital to hospital.
