Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues

Program Description
For the most comprehensive program available on legal issues related to reimbursement, attend AHLA's Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues. As in the past, there will be breakout sessions on more than 50 topics presented by leading experts, including many CMS officials. Dr. David Cutler, Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics at Harvard University, will be this year's Keynote Speaker. Dr. Cutler will discuss the fiscal cliff and upcoming "entitlement reform" legislation. You won’t want to miss in-depth coverage on these very important issues: 

  • Dual eligibles
  • Quality and Pay for Performance
  • Penalties and bonuses provided to hospitals based on quality of care

This year's off-property reception on Wednesday, March 20, sponsored by PYA, will be held at the American Visionary Art Museum

The program begins on March 20 at 8:00 am and ends March 22 at 3:30 pm. More information about the program will be available soon.

Program Materials
All materials will be available on a website prior to the program and handed out on CD at the program. For those who still do want the printed version of the materials, they will be available for an additional fee; please order the binders on the registration form.

Practice Group Luncheon
The Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment Practice Group will hold a luncheon presentation sponsored by on March 20, 2013.

The Accountable Care Organization and Healthcare Reform Educational Task Forces will hold a joint luncheon presentation on Thursday, March 21.

CLE/CPE Information

This program will be worth approximately 21.9 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 26.3 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.

This seminar will be worth approximately 26.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. This program is designed to be an update on developments in the area of reimbursement. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparations required to register for this group live program. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with this area in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program.

Cancellation/Substitutions
Cancellations must be received in writing by March 11, 2013.
