Healthcare lawyers and consultants must keep up with a dizzying array of changes in the healthcare system to best serve their clients. Inside the Beltway, major budget cuts, regulatory overhauls, and reform efforts are moving forward at unprecedented speeds, producing widespread, inevitable and rapid changes to the US healthcare marketplace. This preconference will address salient questions for the healthcare community.
-
If Congress cannot reach agreement on a deficit reduction package, what should the healthcare community expect in terms of reductions from sequestration?
-
What are the most likely consequences for health plans, hospitals, and healthcare professionals from the cuts required under sequestration?
-
What will be the impact on states of additional Medicaid cuts combined with implementation of the insurance market reforms required by the Affordable Care Act?
-
What will happen when the continuing resolution expires on December 16th?
-
Will Congress intervene to lessen the impact of sequestration on entitlements or defense?
These pressing issues, as well as the challenges of implementing insurance market reforms, will be addressed by speakers at the preconference. These issues will also be the public policy questions dominating the news, the boardroom discussions and the strategic planning discussions of healthcare plans and providers throughout the nation.
The Bipartisan Policy Center and the AHLA will offer a policy pre-conference free of charge, from 1:00-5:00 pm on December 5, the day before the Payors, Plans and Managed Care Law Insitute on December 6-7. The audience will learn how these policy changes will impact legal and business advice. A reception will immediately follow the sessions.
