Program Description
The annual Academic Medical Centers program is designed to address the legal issues unique to teaching hospitals and academic medical centers. This program attracts in-house and outside counsel for the nation's leading teaching hospitals and provides an excellent environment for the sharing of best practices and the exploration of new issues. As always, sessions will tackle some of the most cutting-edge and controversial issues in health law and provide concrete advice to attendees on how to handle them.
The program will kick-off with Dr. Darrell Kirch, President and CEO of Association of American Medical Colleges presenting Healthcare Reform - A Tipping Point for Academic Medical Centers. Dr. Atul Grover, Director of Government Relations at AAMC, will follow with Reform and the New Congress - What Does it Mean for Academic Medical Centers. Nancy Forbes, Beth Schermer, and Jeff Sconyers will then discuss Meeting the Challenges of Healthcare Reform. Lew Morris will close the plenary session with a presentation on Conflicts of Interest.

CLE Information
CLE/MCLE: This program will be worth approximately 12.0 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 14.4 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
CPE: This seminar will be worth approximately 14.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. This program is designed to be an update on developments in the area of teaching hospitals. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparations required to register for this group live program. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with the area of managed care in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program and are required to sign in and out of every session during the program.
