Program Description
The Fundamentals of Health Law program is a valuable training program for new associates and in-house counsel and also an excellent refresher for experienced health lawyers. The program offers an array of health law topics, including:
- Fundamentals of the "Reformed" Medicare Program
- Healthcare Reform Overview
- Tax Exemption and Tax Issues
- Anti-Kickback and Stark
- Antitrust
- False Claims and Overpayments
- Life Cycle of a Physician-Practice
The program's faculty not only dispenses their knowledge of legal issues, but they also provide insight into the challenges ahead in order to help attendees build an effective legal practice. The networking opportunities with other new associates, in-house counsel, and the Association's leaders are an invaluable experience.
Paralegals are encouraged to attend the Fundamentals program, and a reduced rate is available. For non-member paralegals, the registration fee includes one year of electronic membership.
The Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment, Hospitals and Health Systems, and Physician Organizations Practice Group joint luncheon will be held on October 25. The discussion will cover Conducting Regulatory Research. On October 26, a panel of expert attorney's will hold a luncheon and presentation on Careers in Health Law. There is an additional fee for both luncheons, pre-registration is required, and space it limited.
This program will be worth approximately 17.75 credits (including 1.17 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 21.3 credits (including 1.4 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
This seminar will be worth approximately 21.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
