Program Description
For the most comprehensive program available on legal issues related to reimbursement, attend AHLA's Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues. David A. Hyman, this year's keynote speaker, is the Richard W. and Marie L. Corman Professor and Director of the Jon David and Elizabeth A. Epstein Health Care Law and Policy Program at the University of Illinois. He is also the author of Medicare Meets Mephistopheles, which regardless of one's politics, is a book that anyone interested in the Medicare program, insight through satire or healthcare policy development in America should read. His observations are timely and thought provoking as we again consider the prospect of Medicare reforms in the context of evolving current conditions. As in the past, there will be breakout sessions on more than 50 topics presented by leading experts, including many CMS officials. Some of the topics include:
- Recovery Audit Contractors and Compliance Strategies
- Medicare Bad Debt
- Medicare Ambulatory Surgery Center Payment and Regulatory Update
- Medicare Physician Reimbursement Issues
- Separate Updates on Medicare Litigation, Medicare Secondary Payor Issues and Hospitals Inpatient PPS
- Introductory sessions on Fraud and Abuse, Medicaid, Coding, and Researching Medicare and Medicaid Issues for those new to the area of Medicare and Medicaid
The program will also include several sessions that will have updates on provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The following sessions have been amended to include descriptions of specific sections of ARRA:
The In-House Counsel Practice Group luncheon will be held on Wednesday, March 25, and the Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment Practice Group luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 26.
Please note: There is an additional fee for the luncheons, space is limited and pre-registration is required.
