Description
Advanced Mediation Training will explore the relationship between the theoretical role and the practical tools of the mediator. The course includes:
- Interactive lectures and demonstrations of advanced mediation techniques
- An opportunity for each participant to discuss his/her mediation background and the practice tools used to enhance mediation success
- A lecture on advanced theoretical and psychological barriers to resolution and discussion with participants on the techniques most appropriate to overcome those barriers
- Sample scenarios that pose challenges to mediators with the most effective techniques identified for dealing with these scenarios
- Interaction by participants in the mediation of a healthcare dispute and in the debriefing of this dispute
By completing this training, you will:
- Understand advanced mediation techniques as an aid to negotiation within the stages of the mediation process
- Be able to apply advanced techniques of negotiation to assist parties to negotiate their own settlements
- Understand the application of theoretical frameworks to real world experiences
- Be able to apply the most appropriate techniques to overcome the advanced theoretical and psychological barriers to resolution
- Be able to identify the most effective techniques for dealing with scenarios that pose challenges to mediators
- Be given the opportunity to join the roster of Mediators in AHLA's ADR Service
- Receive a Certificate of Completion
- Receive CLE credits
Attendance is limited to 24 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate any onsite registrations.
Training will be conducted by the internationally-recognized mediator, arbitrator, administrator and trainer, Jerry P. Roscoe, who consistently receives outstanding evaluations from attendees.
CLE Information
This session will be worth approximately 6.5 credits for 60-minute states and approximately 7.8 credits for 50-minute states. There are no prerequisites required to register for this session.
Cancellation/Substitution Policy
Cancellations must be received in writing no later than
October 27, 2008 in order to receive a refund of registration fees, minus a $200 administrative fee. Due to the limited attendance permitted at this program, no refunds can be made after the October 27th date because of insufficient time to register other attendees.
