Program Description
This program offers the most comprehensive examination of the legal issues that impact the provision of managed care in this country, with a special emphasis on the often complex relations between plans, insurers and providers. Join in-house and outside counsel, legal experts, government representatives and other plan, provider and insurance specialists for analysis and discussion of current issues, opportunities and challenges in the area of managed care.
Monday's general session will include a panel discussion on Healthcare Reform Implications for the Managed Care with Nancy Turnbull, Stephanie Kanwit, John McDonough, and Rob Restuccia. During Tuesday's general session, Jon Kingsdale will focus on Massachusetts Healthcare Reform: Lessons Learned. Breakout sessions will include:

The Payors, Plans, and Managed Care Practice Group (formerly HMOs and Health Plans) luncheon will be held on Monday, October 13. There is an additional fee; space is limited and pre-registration is required. There will also be a Medicare Part D Task Force breakfast on Tuesday, October 14 from 7:30-8:30 am. A panel will discuss the new MIPPA and CMS marketing requirements. There is no additional fee or separate registration for this breakfast.
CLE Information
This program will be worth approximately 11.25 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 13.5 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. This program has been designed to be an update on developments in managed care. Those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law and terminology associated with this area in order to obtain the full educational benefit of this program. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
This seminar will be worth approximately 13.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
