2008 Life Sciences Law Institute

May 7-9, 2008
Bethesda North Marriott® Hotel & Conference Center
Bethesda, MD
Navigant Consulting has provided sponsorship in support of this Program, Practice Group luncheon, and Post-Program CD.

Program Description

AHLA’s goal is to make the Life Sciences program the most effective educational conference on issues where health law and life sciences overlap. These two areas of law are being seen more frequently as extensions of one another. This program will be the most substantive program that a life sciences or health lawyer can attend on life sciences legal issues.

This year's Keynote Address will be given by Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg, president of the Institute of Medicine. In addition, the general sessions will include separate panel discussions on Coverage of Clinical Trials, Trends in Federal Enforcement, and State Law Policy Issues and Enforcement Activities. In-depth breakout sessions from leading private practitioners, in-house counsel, and government representatives on issues such as:

  • Fair Market Value in the Device and Pharma Industry
  • Antitrust Issues
  • Global Compliance
  • Trends in Corporate Integrity
  • Secondary Use of Electronic Health Information
  • Various research issues, including Conflicts of Interest in Research Strategies, Clinical Trial Agreements and Secondary Research

"Melissa Markey's excellent paper from last year's conference is the kind of content that we encourage at the Life Sciences Law Institute. AHLA requests substantive papers from speakers, and it is one of the major reasons that you should attend this and other conferences sponsored by AHLA."

Elisabeth Belmont, President AHLA, 2007-2008

You can also order the other papers from last year's Life Sciences and the Law Institute.

The program also includes the Life Sciences Practice Group luncheon being held on Thursday, May 8. The cost of the luncheon is included in the registration fee.

Special Offer to All Program Attendees!
While at the program, all attendees can sign up to receive free copy of the Post-Program CD. CDs include all the audio recordings and materials with an electronic index and link to each of the topics, practical tools, exhibits, checklists and forms in each presentation. Please stop by the Navigant Consulting exhibit booth to get your coupon for the free CD. All CDs will be mailed 4-6 weeks after the program.
