Co-sponsored with American Bar Association's Health Law Section and Section of Antitrust Law
September 17-18, 2007
Westin Washington, DC City Center Hotel
Washington, DC

Program Description

This year’s Antitrust program will provide the most comprehensive review of antitrust developments in the healthcare industry. It will feature experienced practitioners and senior agency officials and will cover the latest developments in healthcare antitrust law. On Monday, J. Thomas Rosch, Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission will give the keynote address, followed by the Year in Review with Doug Ross, Tom Greaney and Marty Thompson. Tuesday's general session will include separate presentations on Views from the Enforcers, Mergers Analysis, and Bundling. Breakout sessions will cover topics, such as:
  • Clinical integration
  • Handling an investigation
  • Litigation of exclusionary conduct
  • Information exchange and buyer price-fixing

The program will include a group luncheon (all speakers and registrants are welcome to attend) which will include a discussion on Lessons and Observations from Recent Healthcare Antitrust Developments by Jeff Miles. He will cover Evanston Northwestern Healthcare - important questions for the future of hospital-merger enforcement, PeaceHealth - Did the defendant win the battle but lose the war?, the United/Sierra merger - Can it escape challenge?, and the nurse-wage price-fixing cases - Has wage-fixing caused the nursing shortage?

The Antitrust Practice Group will also hold a luncheon on September 18. There is an additional fee of $38 for members of the Antitrust Practice Group and $45 for non-members of the Antitrust Practice Group. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
