Program Description

The program is designed to address the unique issues faced by in-house and outside counsel for pharmaceutical companies and device manufacturers. This year's 2 1/2 day program will include Coverage, Reimbursement and Fraud and Abuse Basics for FDA Lawyers and FDA Basics for Health Lawyers, breakout sessions will address Medicare Part D, implications of implanted device recalls, coverage and payment medical technologies, antitrust issues, clinical research, False Claims Act Liability on defective devices and pharmaceuticals, healthcare fraud investigations on off-label promotion, price reporting, state issues, FDA legislative issues and more.

The Health Information and Technology Practice Group luncheon will be on May 1 and the Antitrust Practice Group breakfast will be on May 2. There is an additional fee of $38 for members of the sponsoring Practice Group and $43 for non-members of the sponsoring Practice Group. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

You can attend both the AHLA Life Sciences Law Institute and AdvaMed's Policy Conference for a discounted registration fee.

CLE Information

This program will be worth approximately 17.0 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 20.4 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.

This seminar will be worth approximately 20.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
