Program Description
This two-day course provides an intensive foundation in techniques and
theories of mediation as participants immerse themselves in conflict
simulations, many patterned after actual disputes. The course
includes:
- Interactive lectures and demonstrations of mediation
techniques;
- Small group simulations designed to provide experience in mediating
a wide range of disputes;
- Individual critique and feedback;
- The opportunity for each participant to mediate a complete dispute,
with feedback;
- A discussion of ethical dilemmas facing mediators;
- A discussion of how to gain experience in mediating actual cases;
and
- A training manual, which details each step of the mediation
process.
Prerequisites: None
Each registrant will be awarded a Certificate of Mediator Training
and will be given the opportunity to sign-up as a Mediator in the
American Health Lawyers Association's ADR Service.
