Program Description
This year's Physicians and Physician Organizations Law Institute will be held in conjunction with the Hospitals and Health Systems Law Institute. Sessions at the Physicians program on February 11-12 will provide a focused analysis of the legal challenges faced by physicians and their counsel. Attendees can "add-on" the Hospitals program and attend three days of programming (February 11-13) for a more comprehensive look at the intertwined and distinct legal issues facing two of the most important components of the healthcare community.
The Physicians program will kick-off with a keynote address by Ross Rubin, Vice President of Legislative Affairs at the American Medical Association. The program will also include a joint plenary session with the Hospitals program on Thursday, during which a panel will explore the tensions in physician-hospital relationships. Breakout sessions throughout the two-day program will address issues such as Physician Employment Contracts; EMTALA; Hospital Exclusive Contracting for Hospital-Based Physicians; Avoiding False Claims in Medicare Physician Payment; Stark Law Issues While Waiting for Phase II Regulations; Integrating Business and Legal Issues for Physician Compensation Models; Hospital-Physician Joint Ventures; and more.
If you register for the Physicians program only, you can attend sessions at the Hospitals program on Thursday, February 12, but you will not receive the written materials for those sessions. Take advantage of the opportunity to register for both the Physicians and the Hospitals program and get three full days of quality education and the full set of written materials from both programs.
The following Practice Groups will hold luncheons during the Physicians Law Institute. For more information about the Practice Group luncheons, click on the Practice Group name below:
- Physician Organizations - Wednesday, February 11
- Credentialing and Peer Review - Thursday, February 12
- Labor and Employment - Thursday, February 12
If you are registering for the Hospitals Law Institute, you may also want to attend the luncheon co-sponsored by the following Practice Groups:
- Hospitals and Health Systems - Friday, February 13
- Healthcare Liability and Litigation - Friday, February 13
For each lunch, there is an additional fee of $37 and space is limited.
