Program Description
This year's Hospitals and Health Systems Law Institute will be held in conjunction with the Physicians and Physician Organizations Law Institute. Sessions at the Hospitals program on February 12-13 will provide a focused analysis of the legal challenges faced by hospitals and health systems and their counsel. Attendees can "add-on" the Physicians program and attend three days of programming (February 11-13) for a more comprehensive look at the intertwined and distinct legal issues facing two of the most important components of the healthcare community.

The Hospitals program will kick-off with a joint plenary session with the Physicians program, during which a panel will explore the tensions in physician-hospital relationships. Breakout sessions throughout the two-day program will address issues such as EMTALA; Hospital Exclusive Contracting for Hospital-Based Physicians; Stark Law Issues While Waiting for Phase II Regulations; Hospital-Physician Joint Ventures; Medicare Reform; HIPAA Hang-Ups: Responding to Common Implementation Problems; Repayments and Disclosures; Corporate Responsibility and the Office of the General Counsel; Disclosing Medical Errors; JCAHO; and more.

Please note: If you register for the Hospitals program only, you can attend sessions at the Physicians program on Thursday, February 12, but you will not receive the written materials for those sessions. Take advantage of the opportunity to register for both the Physicians and the Hospitals program and get three full days of quality education and the full set of written materials from both programs.

The following Practice Groups will hold luncheons during the Hospitals Law Institute. For more information about the Practice Group luncheon, click on the Practice Group names below:

  • Credentialing and Peer Review - Thursday, February 12

  • Physician Organizations - Wednesday, February 11

For each lunch, there is an additional fee of $37 and space is limited.
