After 8 years as general counsel of Deaconess Billings Clinic
(DBC)
in Billings, Montana, in August 2005 Kathy Kenyon established her own
law firm, Kenyon Law Firm, concentrating on the legal and compliance
issues of medical groups and hospitals. During Ms. Kenyon’s tenure, DBC
(which recently changed its name to Billings Clinic) was the largest
health care organization in Montana, composed of a 200 physician group
practice with ten clinic sites in two states, a hospital, nursing home,
telemedicine program, and regional services program.
Prior to moving to Montana, Ms. Kenyon practiced in Washington, DC.
She was Director of Legal Affairs for the American Medical Group
Association, working on the legal issues affecting large physician group
practices across the United States. Ms. Kenyon also worked as a health
antitrust and federal regulatory attorney at Epstein Becker and Green
and, later, at Davis Wright Tremaine. She was an attorney at the FTC’s
Health Care Division for four years, and served as a FTC representative
on the working group that drafted President Clinton’s Health Care
Security Act. In 1994, she served as the health legislative assistant to
Senator Bill Bradley, working with the Senate Finance Committee.
She has written and spoken widely on a range of legal topics in
health care, including antitrust, corporate compliance, issues affecting
tax exempt health care organizations, public policy issues, and managing
the legal needs of health care organizations. She is CHC certified. She
currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Montana American Civil
Liberties Union.
Ms. Kenyon has a law degree from Duke University and a master’s
degree in sociology from Rutgers University.
