Paul R. DeMuro is a partner in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices of Latham & Watkins. He is a CPA with an MBA in finance who has practiced corporate and health care law since 1979. Mr. DeMuro has practiced extensively in the areas of corporate transactions, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate organization, governance, finance and regulatory compliance. He works with hospitals, health plans, e-health and health care technology companies, medical groups, physician practice management companies and integrated delivery systems. He also practices in the areas of Medicare reimbursement, fraud and abuse, compliance and managed care. Mr. DeMuro primarily represents hospitals, health systems, physicians, physician groups, physician practice companies, integrated health systems, managed care organizations, e-health care and health care technology companies and ancillary providers, including laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, DME companies, clinics, home health agencies, etc. and investment banks in health care transactions.

Mr. DeMuro has delivered throughout the world numerous presentations on health care issues and has delivered approximately 300 presentations on a national and regional basis over the last few years.
Mr. DeMuro is a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and a recipient of the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, Muncie Gold and Founders Medal of Honor Awards in Healthcare Financial Management. He is on the Editorial Board of the Aspen Publications Managed Care Law Manual, Atlantic Information Services' Report on Medicare Compliance weekly newsletter, and Brownstone Publishers' Managed Care Contract Negotiator and on the National Advisory Board for the Healthcare Leadership & Management Report.
Mr. DeMuro is on the Governing Council of the Health Care Section of the American Bar Association, and has served as the Section's Finance Officer, Chair-Elect and Chair. He is a past Chair of HFMA's Compliance Officers Forum Advisory Council (1997-1999). He was a member of the National Board of Directors of the HFMA from 1995 - 1997, its Executive Committee from 1996 - 1997; its Nominating Committee (2001-2002); and its Governance Committee (2002-2003). Mr. DeMuro was Chair of its Technical Services Council. He was a member of HFMA's National Principles & Practices Board from 1992 to 1995, and its Vice-Chair from 1993 to 1995 and Project Team Leader for the Board's Issue Analysis 95-1, Acquisition of Physician Practices. Mr. DeMuro is past President of the Northern California HFMA chapter, having served as Secretary, President-Elect and President. He is a past member of the Board of HFMA Learning Solutions, Inc. Mr. DeMuro also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Medical Group Management Association, where he is a Certified Medical Group Practice Executive and a Fellow in The American College of Medical Practice Executives, the Health Care Compliance Association, where he is Certified in Health Care Compliance, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Health Lawyers Association [and a member of its Best Practices Task Force on Fraud and Abuse (1998-1999) and its ENRON Task Force (2002)], and the Healthcare Section of the Los Angeles Bar Association. Mr. DeMuro is admitted to practice law in California, Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
