Susan Adams graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
During two years of subsequent graduate studies in health policy and
bioethics, she did research on tobacco litigation. She had a general
health law practice as an attorney for the academic medical center at
the University of Wisconsin-Madison until the spring of 2005, serving
the faculty and administrators in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and
Pharmacy, as well as research administrators in the Graduate School.
Her practice included regulatory advice to the campus institutional
review boards and implementation of the HIPAA Privacy Rule throughout
the academic medical center and for the research community.
Susan recently became the director of the Committee for the
Protection of Human Subjects at Dartmouth College, which serves the
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and its affiliates, as well as the
College. Susan was a participating author on ethical and legal issues
for a manual on health information registries soon to be published by
the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in the Department of
Health and Human Services. Before embarking on her legal career, Susan
was an analytical biochemist at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the
Midwest Children's Cancer Center.
