9:30 am-12:00 noon | Walking City Tour of Boston Public Gardens*
The Beautiful Public Gardens
Boston is a city rich in American history, neighborhoods and education. To many, Boston is known as “Beantown,” where locals “pahk the caah in Hahvahd Yahd!” It is the nation’s oldest major city with premiere medical and financial centers. A city of seasons, Boston’s snow-covered rooftops of Beacon Hill or flower-filled public gardens make the city a great place to visit any time of year.

This walking tour begins from the Marriott Copley Hotel in the Back Bay. Guests walk up Boylston Street and pass an area rich in Victorian architecture including Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. Modern marvels like the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower are also along the way.

The group enjoys views of the public gardens, swan boats, and the Boston Common as they hear stories of battles fought on these grounds during the Revolution. Atop the Common is the Beacon Hill neighborhood, with its charming streets, brick sidewalks lined with antique gas lamps, hidden gardens, unique doorknockers, and family legacies. Beacon Hill is where many of Boston’s Brahmin families – a group of very wealthy nineteenth century families – made their home.

Those interested in doing the tour, please register your family/guest on the registration form.

The Monday night off-property reception will be held at Fenway Park, considered to be one of the best-known sports venues in the world. Fenway has served as the home ballpark of the Boston Red Sox baseball club since 1912. AHLA attendees and registered guests will enjoy a very special evening at Fenway Park. A quick ride from the hotel and guests are walking down Yawkey Way. Inside the park, the Big Concourse is exclusively for AHLA; the Red Sox are not playing that evening so AHLA will have the stadium to ourselves. The concessions will be open for business, so you can taste a famous Fenway Frank, smell the warm pretzels or hear the sounds of the popcorn machines! The drinks will be flowing and the sounds of Bellevue Cadillac, whose CD “Love Allways” was nominated for 7 Grammies, will be playing. Their music is described as “Jazz, Gospel, Blues, and Soul, Swings on top of Rock N' Roll.”

Transportation will be provided from the Marriott and Westin hotels.
