In-House Counsel Program Information 

The In-House Counsel Program is designed to address the unique issues faced by in-house counsel. Sessions at the program focus on the challenging day-to-day work, roles and responsibilities of in-house counsel lawyers. Sessions at this year's program will cover:

  • Stark in Practice
  • Quantifying Community Benefit
  • Hot Topics in Managed Care
  • What's of Interest at the National Practitioner Data Bank?
  • Managing the Media — Role of In House Counsel
  • Electronic Medical Records
  • Contract Management Techniques

The program will include the In-House Counsel Practice Group luncheon. The luncheon is included in the registration fee, but those not attending the program are welcome to attend the lunch for a small fee.

While at the program, all attendees can sign up to receive free copy of the Post-Program CD. CDs include all the audio recordings and materials with an electronic index and link to each of the topics, practical tools, exhibits, checklists and forms in each presentation. Please stop by the Thomson West exhibit booth to get your coupon for the free CD. All CDs will be mailed out 4-6 weeks after the program.

CLE Information
This program will be worth approximately 7.0 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 8.4 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.

This seminar will be worth approximately 8.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37219-2417. Non-Members: $535
Printed Course Materials: $25

Cancellations/Substitutions
Cancellations must be received in writing by fax or mail no later than June 20, 2008. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after this date. Registration fees, less a $50 administrative fee for the In-House Counsel Program, will be refunded following the program. If you register for both the Annual Meeting and the In-House Counsel Program and are only able to attend one, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. Please note that registration fees are based on the AHLA Membership status of the individual who actually attends the program.
