Program Description

Representative Pete Stark, whose anti self-referral legislation has had an enormous impact on the practice of healthcare law and the structure of relationships between hospitals and physicians. He will be followed by
Jim Sheehan, the Medicaid Inspector General in New York, who is energizing state officials in anti-fraud enforcement.
Preceding the keynote address will be Fundamentals of Medicare Parts A-D, CMS Outreach Session on Hospital and Physician Issues and a panel discussion on Quality. As in the past, there will be breakout sessions on more than 50 topics presented by leading experts, including many CMS officials. Some of the topics include:

Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment Practice Group luncheon will be held on April 9, In-House Counsel Practice Group luncheon, sponsored by Meditract, Inc., will be held on April 10 and the HMOs and Health Plans Practice Group luncheon, sponsored by First Chesapeake Group, will be held on April 11.

CLE Information
The Medicare/Medicaid program will be worth approximately 20.1 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 24.1 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
This seminar will be worth approximately 24.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
