2008 Hospitals and Health Systems Law Institute

February 14-15, 2008
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando
Orlando, FL
Horne LLP provided sponsorship in support of this program.

Program Description

The Hospitals Law Institute will provide a focused analysis of the legal challenges faced by hospitals and their counsel. Topics at this year's program will include New Form 990, False Claims Acts, joint ventures and under arrangements, implementing electronic health records, MS.1.20, and on-call issues. The program will also include several advanced sessions for those attendees looking for more in-depth discussion on complex issues facing you and your clients. February 14 will include a joint plenary session and several overlap breakout sessions with the Physicians program. Attendees can register for just the Hospitals program or "add-on" the Physician and Physician Organizations Law Institute and attend three days of programming (February 13-15) for a more comprehensive look at the intertwined and distinct legal issues facing two of the most important components of the healthcare community.

If you register for the Hospitals program only, you can attend sessions at the Physicians program on Thursday, February 14, but you will not receive the written materials or CLE credit for those sessions. Take advantage of the opportunity to register for both the Physicians and the Hospitals programs and get three full days of quality education and the full set of written materials from both programs.

Several Practice Groups will hold a luncheon during the Hospitals Law Institute:

  • Hospitals and Health Systems and Labor and Employment (joint luncheon) - February 14
  • Healthcare Liability and Litigation - February 15
  • Medical Staff, Credentialing, and Peer Review - February 15

If you are registering for the Physicians Law Institute, you may also want to attend the luncheon sponsored by the following Practice Groups:

  • Physician Organizations, sponsored by Pershing Yoakley and Associates - February 13
  • Health Information and Technology - February 14

For each lunch, there is an additional fee of $38 for members of the Practice Group hosting the lunch and $45 for AHLA Members not enrolled in that PG and Non-Members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
