Program Description

You won't want to miss the 2007 Fraud and Compliance Forum designed specifically for compliance officers and health attorneys who must advise their clients and institutions on the latest developments in fraud and abuse and compliance issues. Kicking off on Sunday afternoon, the day will not only include a Fraud and Abuse Primer, Compliance 101, and Compliance 202, but additional sessions on advanced issues in compliance and fraud and abuse. Monday's General Session will include presentations by Paul Fiorelli of Xavier University followed by a keynote address from John Inglesia of New Jersey. US Attorney Alex Acosta of the Southern District of Florida will address the attendees during Tuesday's General Session. Breakout sessions with a legal focus and a compliance focus will include presentations from leading private practitioners, compliance officers, academicians and representatives from the OIG, DOJ, and CMS on topics such as:
  • Stark Phase III - several sessions throughout the program will cover the proposed changes and impact they will have. Sessions included are Recent Developments in Stark, Fraud and Abuse Issues in Joint Ventures, and Recruitment and Retention in a Phase III World
  • Corporate Responsibility and Healthcare Quality: A Resource for Healthcare Boards of Directors
  • Hot Topics in Life Sciences Law
  • Auditing and Monitoring
  • Fraud and Abuse Issues in Joint Ventures
  • Building a Medicaid Compliance Program
  • Fraud and Abuse Primer

The Fraud and Abuse, Self-Referrals, and False Claims Practice Group luncheon, sponsored by HealthCare Appraisers, Inc. will be held on September 24. HCCA will host a luncheon on September 25. There is an additional fee, space is limited and pre-registration is required for both of these luncheons.

The program begins Sunday, September 23 at 2:00 pm Eastern and ends Tuesday, September 25 at 3:45 pm.

CLE Information

This program will be worth approximately 15.5 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 18.6 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. The sessions, unless otherwise designated, are intermediate to advanced in level. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program. This seminar will be worth approximately 18.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
