Program Description
Mediation Essentials Training. This two-day course provides an intensive foundation in techniques and theories of mediation as participants immerse themselves in conflict simulations, many patterned after actual disputes. The course includes:
- Interactive lectures and demonstrations of mediation techniques;
- Small group simulations designed to provide experience in mediating a wide range of disputes;
- Individual critique and feedback;
- The opportunity for each participant to mediate a complete dispute, with feedback;
- A discussion of ethical dilemmas facing mediators;
- A discussion of how to gain experience in mediating actual cases; and
- A training manual, which details each step of the mediation process.

Course Evaluation and Wrap-Up |
Training will be conducted by the internationally recognized mediator, arbitrator, administrator and trainer, Jerry P. Roscoe of JAMS, the resolution experts. Jerry consistently receives outstanding evaluations from attendees.
Certification Information
Each registrant will be awarded a Certificate of Mediator Training and will be given the opportunity to sign-up as a Mediator in the American Health Lawyers Association's ADR Service.
CLE Information
This session will be worth approximately 13.75 credits (including 1.0 ethics credit) for 60-minute states and approximately 16.5 credits (including 1.2 ethics credit) for 50-minute states. Participants will be given CLE Request forms at the program. Forms must be completed and returned to AHLA staff to receive credit. There are no prerequisites required to register for this program.
This session will be worth approximately 16.0 CPE credits. AHLA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
